Destiny translates to “Sarnevesht” in Farsi, which literally

means written on head.

Destiny II questions social norms around gender, freedom of speech, and human rights. In a series of portraits created using photo transfer and pen, Maral frames their subjects in patterns from Persian tapestry, carpets, and architecture to reflect the sense of restriction and limitation culture creates. Portraits shown in this series of Destiny, belong to individuals who question the status quo through their practice.
